Stewarding Positive Change

GivingTuesday is a global movement for giving where you live; it’s an opportunity to move beyond the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday to give back to the community and show support for the causes that are close to our hearts. In many ways, this day of generosity is uniquely aligned with our mission at the Palo Alto Community Fund (PACF)— to serve as a catalyst for positive change and an enduring community resource to ensure a vibrant Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park by raising and stewarding funds from donors and investing in the local nonprofit ecosystem.

This year, PACF received a remarkable gift from Board Emeriti member and long-time community leader William (Bill) Reller, establishing the William Reller Impact Fund. His innovative contribution paired an in-kind gift—a membership interest in Legacy Venture X, LLC, a venture capital fund that not only seeks financial returns but also aims to generate positive community impact through its investments—with a cash gift to cover future capital commitments, ensuring that PACF can maximize the benefits of the investment in the coming years.

Bill’s vision serves as an inspiring model for donors to think creatively about how they can engage and invest with local organizations to have lasting community impact. Giving where you live can take different forms: it can include traditional financial donations, gifts of stocks or donor-advised funds, planning your legacy through planned giving, or it can mean giving of your time, talent, and expertise to be a transformational force for your community. The important thing is to be a part of the community, and to do so in a way that makes sense for you. Every act of generosity can create a lasting ripple effect in strengthening the community.

This GivingTuesday, we invite you to join us in empowering a thriving, collaborative, and just Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park. Will you help us reach our ambitious goal to raise $200K by December 31 with a gift of $100, $500, or another meaningful amount?

Thank you for being a vital part of the Palo Alto Community Fund family. It is because of your generosity that we are able to fuel the work of nearly 100 organizations every year.
