PACF Board Member Spotlight

Meet Sheryl Klein

At PACF, we are fortunate to benefit from the expertise of board members who help guide our work on complex community issues. One of those leaders is Sheryl Klein, a longtime civic leader, community volunteer, and nonprofit housing executive.

Sheryl chairs PACF’s Community Engagement Committee, helping ensure our work remains closely connected to community needs and voices. She brings a practical, strategic perspective shaped by years of experience at the intersection of housing, policy, and community impact.

Professionally, Sheryl is the chief operating officer of Alta Housing, where she leads strategic initiatives and planning and oversees the Below Market Rate housing program. She joined Alta as its first COO after five years on its Board of Directors and previously served as board chair. Beyond her professional role, she is deeply engaged in civic life and currently serves as board member and treasurer of Palo Alto Forward, an organization working to expand housing and transportation choices for a more inclusive, affordable, and environmentally sustainable Palo Alto.

What Sheryl loves most about serving on the PACF board is the opportunity to work alongside people who care deeply about this community and are committed to learning, listening, and taking action together.

Fun fact: When she’s not working on housing issues or PACF's community events, you’re likely to find Sheryl at the Downtown Palo Alto Farmers’ Market, where she is also a volunteer board member of the nonprofit that gives its proceeds back to the community.
